Wiltshire Police Authority. Now the Police and Crime Commissioner for the Wiltshire Police area has been elected, what has happened to Wiltshire Police Authority? Police and Crime Commissioners directly replaced their respective police authority. This has happened in 41 police force/police authority areas in England and Wales. Wiltshire Police Authority no longer exists. It has effectively become the Office of the Police and Crime Commissioner for Wiltshire and Swindon, with staff previously working for Wiltshire Police Authority now working for the Police and Crime Commissioner.
